Cleveland's humid spell continues

(Cleveland) - It's been a warm sticky summer in Cleveland so far, with humidity hovering the 80% range.

Dr. Christine Alexander of MetroHealth Medical Center warns that high humidity can cause dehydration even with mild temperatures. She says it's very important to replace lost body fluids, because high humidity causes more perspiration.

Alexander says people with breathing ailments should stay near air conditioning which takes water out of the air.

High humidity also makes it easier for some diseases to spread, such as stomach viruses and diarrhea. Pollen and molds grow and spread in humid air making life miserable for people with allergies.
