Posted Tuesday, March 25th 2014 @ 8pm  by J. David Ress

(Shaker Heights) -- If you're driving through Shaker Heights this Thursday and you're on your cell phone, you just might end up in the pokey!

Police in that community will begin to enforce a new city ordinance that says it is a primary offense to drive while using a cell phone, texting or using any other wireless device.

A primary offense means that Shaker Heights police can pull you over if they spot you using any of the above mentioned devices. If found guilty; you could face fines of up to $1000.00 or 6 months in jail.

Shaker Heights police will only give out warnings the first two months.

Check out the city's FAQ page if you have questions about the ordinance.
