Ohio Supreme Court to decide if Strongsville teachers get names of strike substitutes

(Strongsville) --Fox News Radio reports on its website this week that a court ruled in favor of the Cleveland Teachers Union, which represented the striking Strongsville teachers, to get the names of 372 substitutes who crossed picket lines during the 8-week strike in 2013.

The Strongsville Board of Education had refused to provide the names to the union, citing safety concerns for the substitutes.

The school district claims that the subs faced intimidation as they crossed picket lines during the strike, and there's concern that there could be further harm if the names  are released.

But the teacher's union, citing open records laws, says transparency in government requires that the names be made available.

The case is now before the Ohio Supreme Court.
