The Black Keys help West Akron Baseball League

(Akron) - The Black Keys have helped raise $28,000 for the West Akron Baseball League. The group created t-shirts for the league and sold them on its website.

WABL President Mike Dies says Black Keys members Pat Carney and Dan Auerbach are former players, and got the band to sponsor a team in 2013. They decided to take it a step further selling more than 1,000 t-shirts at $24.99 to its fans.

Dies tells Newsradio WTAM 1100 the money will go a long way in helping them to clean up baseball fields for play, and to obtain better safety equipment.

Dies says the t-shirts have been showing up around the country, and as far away as Europe.

Dies also reports that the league also has another high profile sponsor, the TV show Hot in Cleveland.
