(Cleveland) - University Hospitals and Rainbow Babies and Childrens' Hospital open a telemedicine hub Thursday. It’s at the Friendly Inn Settlement House in Cleveland's Promise Neighborhood at East 55th and Quincy Avenue.

The 'UH/Rainbow HealthSpot' station, as it is being called, will be staffed by a medical attendant on scene and a doctor who can remotely examine pediatric patients in the area.

Spokesman Ethan Churnin says they have placed the station in a densely populated area with a pediatric population that is highly underserved. It’s also an area that needs after-hour access to health care.

The station will concentrate on kids who are dealing with minor issues including fever, colds and ear aches.

The doctor has full control of all the biometrics. That means he or she can listen to the heart and lungs, take a kids blood pressure and height and weight.

Doctors can also call in prescriptions for the patients.
