(Cleveland)
- Ohio Governor Ted Strickland gave an economic pep talk on Ohio's economy at his Friday Cleveland City Club Address.

Strickland told the sold-out audience at the downtown Marriott Hotel, that Ohio's economy, and Cleveland's economy, can survive the national economic downturn.

The Governor said Cleveland leads many major cities in several categories, like cost of living and quality of life.

Ohio's Democratic Governor said his tax reform measures will attract corporations and jobs to Ohio, and Cleveland's strong Medical and Bio-Science industry is transforming the cities economy. Strickland said his job stimulus package will dedicate over a billion and a half dollars toward creating jobs.

The Governor also pledged to fix education funding in Ohio during his first term. But he told the City Club that we have to decide what kind of secondary education system we want first.

Governor Strickland said he is upset with the Federal Government's lack of action on high gas prices, saying a national emergency should be declared

Strickland, again, said he was not interested in running for Vice President.
