Dr. Frank Miller talks with WTAM's Darren Toms

(Cleveland)
- It's like the TV show "CSI"...but it's real.

The Cuyahoga County Coroner's Office is attempting to identify the eight bodies found in Anthony Sowell's home over the last week. They are in varying stages of decomposition.

Coroner Dr. Frank Miller tells Newsradio WTAM 1100 that they have good leads as to who four or five of the victims may be. He's asking that anyone with a missing loved one contact police to be added to the identification list.

Miller called in an anthropologist to help confirm that all six were African-American women. At least five were strangled. The ages are not yet known.

Miller has also requested help from an entomologist. By looking at the insects found with the remains, they can often determine how long a body has been in its location.

The coroner's office will continue working the day-to-day cases, but these remains are the top priority for Dr. Miller and company. He hopes to have at least some of the victims identified before the end of the week. Other could take much longer, especially if matches have to be made via DNA.

Miller says this is an unusual case, to say the least. But dealing with the deceased is their job and he hopes to bring closure to some families with missing loved ones.

The registered sex offender who lived in the home, 50-year-old Anthony Sowell, was arrested Saturday when officers spotted him walking down the street in his neighborhood.

So far, no charges have been filed regarding the bodies.
