Thursday, February 4, 2010
(Maple Heights) - The owners of an assisted living apartment complex in Maple Heights have opened their doors to 15 families forced out into the cold.

Because of a boiler malfunction and gas leak, residents were forced to evacuate their homes at the Maple Heights Apartments on Maple Heights Blvd. They will not be able to return for several days.

So, the owners of the Lamplight Inn made vacant units available to them. Spokeswoman Sevy Petras says they asked their residents if would be alright to provide temporary shelter and all agreed.

Petras reports, the Red Cross has donated cots, blankets, food, and supplies for the evacuees.

Petras explains it’s their way of serving the community and assisting to the Red Cross.

Petras says the Lamplight Inn is owned by Lamplight Communities, a family-owned business committed to providing residents with superior quality and compassionate care regardless of their economic resources.
