County computer services director charged by feds

Accused of bribing "Public Official 2," who's believed to be Frank Russo
Friday, July 30, 2010
(Cleveland) -- Yet another Cuyahoga County staffer has been charged in the ongoing federal probe of corruption in county government.

Daniel Weaver, who has been in charge of computer services for county government, was named in an information filed by federal prosecutors Friday morning.   Weaver resigned his position Friday, and his attorney says he will cooperate.

Weaver is charged with giving bribes to a man identified as "Public Official 2", and whose description perfectly matches Cuyahoga County Auditor Frank Russo. Russo has not been charged with any crimes, and denies he has done anything wrong.

Weaver once worked under Russo as deputy auditor. The feds say Weaver paid cash bribes to Russo, in return for Russo being receptive to what Weaver's office was doing.
