(Cleveland) - The family of a Cleveland woman who died in police custody in late 2014 says they have reached a cash settlement with the city, but are still asking for reforms within the Cleveland Police department.
The family of Tanisha Anderson says they have settled with the City for $2.25 million. Anderson's family had sued the City of Cleveland and two police officers.
In a letter to the city, Anderson's family says they are still calling for a police general order on subject control and positional asphyxiation, and want to use Anderson's death in officer training. They're also calling for the firing of Officers Scott Aldridge and Bryan Myers.
Anderson's family also wants a memorial plaque in a prominent place, calling on the city and police to be vigilant when they deal with the mentally ill. They say they will provide the plaque.
The settlement is subject to approval by Probate Court.
