(Columbus) - Mentally ill people across Ohio would be spared from execution if a bill co-sponsored by a Cincinnati-area state representative becomes law.
The bill addresses delusional disorder and several other mental illnesses.
The legislation would set up a scenario where mental patients would not be eligible for the death penalty.
State Representative Bill Seitz, a Cincinnati-area Republican, says the bill stands a good chance of being called up for a vote later this year.
County prosecutors across Ohio caution that the details of the legislation would be overly broad.
