Students lay holiday wreaths at Rittman Cemetery

(Rittman, Ohio)- A group of students from Brecksville's Cuyahoga Valley Career Center took time out of their Saturday to honor the veterans buried at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

The juniors and seniors helped to lay holiday wreaths on the graves as part of the national "Wreaths Across America" program.

Student Justin Liddy says the students were eager to participate in the program, and raised funds starting in November to help pay to put a wreath on the grave of each veteran.

Justin tells us that, along with hundreds of other volunteers, the teens helped to place 20,000 wreaths.

At each grave, the wreathlayers paused, said the veteran's name out loud, along with his or her military branch, and said "Thank you for your service".

Wreathlaying ceremonies are being held at military cemeteries across the nation.
