Westlake Police Blotter: Fugitives Busted, Drugs, OVI's & Amazon Theft

Westlake, OH - On 5/10/19 at approx. 1225 PM officers responded to a traffic crash at Crocker and Detroit Rds.Two vehicles were involved and one received disabling damage.One of the drivers was found to be wanted by the US Marshals Service.He was arrested and turned over to the federal agency.

On 5/11/19 at approx. 3:30PM an officer stopped a vehicle on I90 at the Lorain County line for traffic and license violations.The 3 occupants were separated and questioned.The front seat passenger was acting out of the ordinary and was found to be in possession of suspected crack cocaine and heroin.He also wrestled with the officers when they were arresting him.The 27yo from Elyria was charged with felony drug possession, obstructing official business, and bringing prohibited contraband into a jail facility.One Westlake officer was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.He was released the same day and is back to work.The 2 other occupants of the vehicle were sent on their way with no charges.

On 5/12/19 at about 2:30AM WPD received a call from a roadside assistance driver who was trying to help out a disabled motorist on Woodruff Ct.The driver noted that the car had 2 flat tires and appeared to have struck something.The female driver was still with the vehicle and appeared intoxicated.The officers spoke with the dazed driver who admitted that she had “bumped into” a median.The female was field tested after she stated that she was not sure if she could balance because she was “a klutz.”The officer arrested her for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.At the jail she tested 2 1/5 times the legal limit.

On 5/12/19 at approx. 4AM officers responded to a report of a vehicle facing the wrong direction on Crocker Rd at I90.Officers arrived to find a female stumbling around the disabled car.3 tires of the vehicle were flat with bent rims.It appeared that the driver struck curbs on Crocker and had even driven over the sidewalk.When questioned, the female on scene could not explain the damage to her vehicle but said it could have been some sort of “vandalism.”The story did not make sense and the female appeared to be intoxicated.The 23yo from North Olmsted refused field sobriety tests and was arrested for OVI and fail to control her vehicle.On station she tested 2 times the legal limit.

A resident of Queen Annes Gate reported that his unlocked vehicle was unlawfully entered overnight on 5/14/19. Cash, clothing and credit cards were reported missing.Investigators are following up with stores where the cards were used.

On 5/14/19 at about 5pm officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the lot of McDonalds on Detroit by Columbia Rds.Witnesses said that the occupants were possibly shooting up heroin inside the vehicle.Officers stopped the vehicle, which was occupied by 4 persons, as it was leaving the area.The occupants were separated and several admitted to using drugs.A syringe was found on the driver, a 38yo out of Castalia, OH. She was arrested for possession of drug abuse instruments.A second female in the car, a 24yo from Norwalk, also has a needle and admitted to being a heroin user.She had an active warrant from Lake Co SO and was arrested for the offenses.The 2 males in the vehicle admitted that the 2 females had entered McDonalds to use drugs in the restroom.The males were released from the scene.

On 5/15/19 at approx. 12:45pm the Apple Store at Crocker Park reported the theft of an IPhone.The suspects were only described as a black male and white female.Officers are reviewing surveillance footage to attempt to identify the couple.

On 5/16/19 at 7pm a resident of Cedarwood reported that although his account showed that he had received an Amazon package, it was now missing.The complainant believed it had been stolen.A theft report was taken.
