(Cleveland, OH) - Attorney General Dave Yost announced Monday that $8.75 million from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act will be allocated support rape crisis centers and domestic violence shelters in Ohio, in addition to $1 million to combat COVID-19 scams throughout the state.

Sondra Miller, President and CEO of Cleveland Rape Crisis Center, said, “During a time when there is a lot of uncertainty, especially for survivors of rape and sexual abuse, we applaud Attorney General Dave Yost for his office’s ongoing commitment to survivors by appropriating these funds to rape crisis centers and domestic violence shelters in Ohio. Survivors can access support from Cleveland Rape Crisis Center 24/7 by calling or texting 216-619-6192 or accessing our online chat at clevelandrapecrisis.org/chat."

Miller added, “The shockwave of this crisis has shaken the stability of vulnerable Ohioans, leaving them even more exposed to predators and schemers who wish to cause harm. This vital funding will go a long way to provide necessary protections to those who face this growing risk. I appreciate our lawmakers for recognizing the need for these additional resources.”
