The author of an essay called "How To Murder Your Husband" has been sentenced to life in prison in the shooting death of her husband.

Nancy Crampton Brophy, 71, learned of her fate Monday in an Oregon courtroom, one month after a jury found her guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Daniel Brophy, a chef and instructor at the Oregon Culinary Institute. Prosecutors say Crampton Brophy killed her husband of 26 years in 2018 to get a $1.5 million life insurance settlement. Her lawyers say they plan on filing an appeal.

Crampton is a self-published author whose other works include "The Wrong Husband" and "The Wrong Lover." Prior to offing Daniel Brophy, she had posted a message on Twitter that read, "The thing I know about murder is that every one of us have it in him/her when pushed far enough."
