In a disturbing incident that was caught on video, a mob has ransacked a Los Angeles McDonald’s as the frightened staff watched while cowering behind the counter.

The incident happened Monday evening in L.A.’s Leimart Park neighborhood, where a group of people ran into the fast food eatery and began destroying furniture, the video reveals. The mob then turns its attention on the employees, pelting them with food and objects before several of them jump onto the counter, as seen in the clip. At that point, the staff retreats to a back room while the mayhem continues, with one person smashing a glass display case while another leaves the premises with a cash register. Several people outside then kick the register until the drawer pops open, which kicks off a feeding frenzy for the money, the video reveals.

Although police took one teen into custody, the other members of the mob managed to give them the slip, according to the LAPD. "We are deeply concerned by this recent incident,” says franchise owner Tony Lardas. “We're focused on supporting our restaurant team as we continue to assist local law enforcement in their investigation."
