1.  Facing a one year ban from the NFL, for violating the leagues drug policy a third time, Browns wr Josh Gordon has an appeal hearing Friday.Reportedly Gordon will claim that he didn't smoke marijuana, but we exposed to 2nd hand smoke on the day of his test. According to the report, Gordon had tested negative 70, since he's been in the NFL.  Also, there were discrepancies found in the lab test regarding the levelof marijuana in his system.  Do you think Gordon will get the full one year suspension? Is it possible he will get a reduction or could the whole issue be dropped with no suspension?

 

2.  Charges have been filed in the desecration of Art Modell’s gravesite.  The Browns fan who posted a video on You Tube urinating on Modell’s grave will be charged with an indecent act in a cemetery which carries a penalty of up to two years in jail and a $500 fine.   The suspect will be publically identified once charges have been formally filed.       Do you think the fan should apologize?   What kind of penalty do you think he will get if convicted?

 

 3.  Support is growing for fired Ohio State University marching band director Jon Waters.  He was fired last week after the university determined he did not defuse a sexualized culture among band members.   A petition to get him reinstated has more than 6,000 signatures, almost $7,000 has been raised to help his family and many former and current band members are supporting him  on Twitter at #standwithjon.    Do you think Waters deserves a second chance at OSU?

 

4. The Ohio board of tax appeals ruled in favor of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation is tax exempt and that it won’t have to pay taxes to the city of Beachwood for property it owns along Cedar Road which could cost the city’s school district $8 million dollars.    The ruling says Cleveland Clinic Foundation adheres to its stated mission of providing healthcare to all, regardless of a patient’s race, creed or ability to pay for services.    Do you agree the ruling?   Should hospitals be tax exempt?

 

5. More development is taking place in Ohio City in Cleveland this time along Detroit Avenue just west of West 25th.     The new Mariner’s Watch apartments are set to open this fall, the Vintage Development Group purchased a former bath house in the area with plans to tear it down and build a 60 to 75 unit residential building and small retailers have opened up in a nearby area called Hingetown.    What do you think is the driving force behind Cleveland’s revitalization?

 

6.  A sheriff from Butler County in Ohio sent a letter to Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, charging him for the illegals in his jail.   Sheriff Richard Jones says he then got a letter from the U.S. federal government that he violated a treaty from 1790.   Jones says the prisoners came here illegally and some of the teenagers have molested citizens and are dealing drugs.   What do you think about Sheriff Jones sending Mexico a bill and what do you think about the U.S. response?

 

7. The violence between Israel and Hamas continues and it seems like there will be no real end to the conflict on the horizon.   This week, Congress will discuss a $225 million request from the Defense Department to urgently bolster Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system.    Should Congress and the Adminstration approve the funding?

 

8. The Huffington Post ranks the list of board games that most of you grew up with.    Some of games on the list include Hungry Hippos, Trouble, Chutes and Ladders, Risk, Trivial Pursuit, Candyland, Scrabble, Monopoly, Battleship, Sorry, Life and Guess Who.   What was your favorite childhood board game?

 

9.  U.S. teenagers use of human growth hormones more than double between 2012 and 2013.   A new poll by Drug-Free Kids says 11% of 3,705 teenagers in grades 9 to 12 polled said they had used HGH at least once, up from 5% in 2012.   HGH use was higher among Blacks at 15% and Hispanics at 13% with Whites at 9%.   The head of the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids says “young people are seeking out and using performance enhancing drugs hoping to improve their athletic performance or body appearance”.   Does it surprise you that so many teenagers are using human growth hormones?

 

10. Paris Hilton is back in a new Hardee’s commercial promoting their new Texas BBQ Thickburger made with brisket.  In the commercial, she’s wearing a black bikini as another scantily clad woman in black bikini washes a Bentley similar to the commercial Hilton made nine years ago.   Does sex sell?   Would you go out and buy a Hardee’s burger because of Paris Hilton?  

 

11. There is always something to do in Cleveland during the summer and early fall including Greek Festivals, Rib Cook-Offs, the Feast of the Assumption, Arts Festivals and Oktoberfests.   What is your favorite Cleveland event?

 

12. Congresswoman Marcia Fudge has introduced legislation aimed at increasing community treatment options for heroin and other substance abuse.   Do you think putting money into treatment centers would be more effective than incarceration?

 

13. The chair of the American Academy of Otolaryngology says ear wax is good thing.   Dr. Douglas Backous says the purpose of earwax really is to keep your ear canal clean.  Not only does earwax help keep dust and dirt away from the eardrum, it also provides some antibacterial and lubricating perks.    Did your mom or grandmother ever tell you not to put anything in your ear that’s smaller than your elbow?    Do you use cotton swabs to clean your ears?   What do you think about the doctor’s comments about earwax?

 

14.  Do you have a fat cat or a fat dog?   Pet liposuction is here.   A pet clinic in North Ridgeville says it’s a new way to treat benign fatty masses on older and overweight animals especially dogs.   During one procedure they removed almost three and a half liters of fat out.    Would you consider liposuction for your pet if it was too fat?
