The Browns are back after a weekend away after losing to the Ravens Thursday evening. The team had a practice this morning and will have Tuesday off as they will begin to prepare for the Giants.

-Injuries at the wide receiver position were the theme today as Josh Cribbs (concussion) Mohamed Massaquoi (hamstring) and Travis Benjamin (undisclosed) all missed practice today.

-Coach Shurmur would not elaborate on how long any of the players would be out but said all are day to day. But today was a day where guys like Josh Gordon, Josh Cooper, and Jordan Norwood where able to take a ton of reps with Brandon Weeden. And at this point if just one of those three could become a dependable resource for Weeden that would be huge.

- Weeden feels like he is growing with the offense but he acknowledged that he isn’t satisfied because they haven’t won yet. He also made it clear that they have to stay out of 2nd and long situations and they have to get the ball to Trent Richardson as much as possible.

-With a secondary already missing Joe Haden for more week the team is now dealing with T.J. Ward missing practice as he is dealing with a broken thumb. Ward has had the same surgery on his thumb that fellow safety Ray Ventrone had a few weeks earlier.

When Shurmur was asked if he thinks if Ward will miss any time he replied “Same procedure Bubba had, and he’s back.” Now Ventrone did miss one game and has had to play with a huge cast on his arm so we will see in time if Ward can bounce back soon enough to face the Giants this Sunday.

-With an abundance of injuries at wide receiver and safety Shurmur was asked how he will compensate for all the injuries, “We’ll make the roster as good as we can make it. We’re gonna put the guys on the field that can play and will give us the best opportunity to win.

So if we’ve got to use three tight ends, if we’ve got to use two receivers whatever combination is we’ve got plenty of plays and a lot of ideas. We’ll put the guys out there that’ll give us the best chance to win."
