(CLEVELAND) -- Indians center fielder Michael Brantley underwent sports hernia surgery on Thursday to repair a core muscle injury in the left side of his abdomen.
Brantley, 25, is expected to be "full-go" according to the team by late November to begin his offseason preparations for spring training.
Typical recovery time for sports hernia surgery is 3 to 6 weeks.
According to the Indians, Brantley suffered a groin injury running during a Sept. 23 game against the Royals in Kansas City. Brantley had soreness in that region most of the second half.
During the 2012 season Brantley hit .288 with 6 HR and 60 RBI.
