(CLEVELAND) -- The Indians and free agent outfielder Nick Swisher have agreed to a four-year deal.
A source confirmed an earlier report late Sunday morning that the Tribe landed the former Ohio State product, a deal worth $56 million.
The deal will not be made official until Swisher passes a mandatory physical which is expected to take place in the coming days.
The contract also includes a $14 million option for a fifth season.
Swisher, 32, hit .272 with 24 home runs and 93 RBIs in 148 games last season with the New York Yankees. The former Buckeye visited Cleveland early last week with his wife actress JoAnna Garcia and his agent. Along with a dinner with team president Mark Shapiro and general manager Chris Antonetti, Swisher also had lunch with owner Paul Dolan and former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel.
The Indians are still targeting starting pitchers this offseason.
