(TEMPE, Ariz.) -- Indians right-hander Trevor Bauer admitted he is working on changing 8-10 years of "neuromuscular programming" following his most recent spring training outing in which the 22-year-old went three innings, allowed five hits and four runs (3 ER), while walking four. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim topped the Tribe 6-5 on Wednesday afternoon at Tempe Diablo Stadium.
The Indians fell to 14-8-2 in Cactus League exhibition play with the loss.
A tough third inning haunted Bauer Wednesday afternoon when Brendan Harris, Howie Kendrick and Josh Hamilton drove in runs to give the Angels a 4-2 lead at the time.
The Indians scoring was highlighted by two of their hottest hitters this spring: Michael Brantley and Lonnie Chisenhall. Brantley ripped a two-run double in the first inning and Chisenhall belted a two-run homer in the fourth inning.
After the game Indians manager Terry Francona admitted he was very impressed with his young third baseman.
"One of the longest homers I think I've ever seen," Francona said. "I wish we had been in a real ballpark because that was really pretty."
The Indians return to Cactus League action on Thursday in Scottsdale, Ariz. when they visit the Arizona Diamondbacks at Salt River Fields. First pitch is slated for 4:05 pm ET.
