(GOODYEAR, Ariz.) -- The Cleveland Indians rotation has been set. The 25-man roster is next.
On Saturday afternoon Indians general manager Chris Antonetti announced that Jeanmar Gomez would be the club's fifth starter, ending a competition between the right-hander and Kevin Slowey.
Slowey was optioned down to Triple-A Columbus, along with reliever Frank Herrmann. Lefty David Huff is likely headed for the disabled list according to Antonetti.
Gomez is healthy enough to make his next scheduled start after suffering a hip strain during Friday's outing. This spring Gomez impressed going 1-1 with an ERA of 1.37. In 19.2 innings pitched Gomez only allowed 13 hits and three runs.
Gomez joins Justin Masterson, Ubaldo Jimenez, Derek Lowe and Josh Tomlin in the Tribe's starting rotation.
Antonetti said the club will announce the extra outfielder spot on Sunday, along with the lone bullpen job and an extra infielder.
The only bullpen spot is between right-hander Jeremy Accardo and newly acquired righty Jairo Asencio. The outfield job will likely be Aaron Cunningham or Ryan Spilborghs. It appears Jose Lopez will be the club's extra infielder.
Lowe, who left Thursday's game with a sore right side, said he will not miss any time due to the recent injury. The veteran hurler even said he is 100 percent not headed for the DL.
