(GOODYEAR, Ariz.) -- Indians All-Star shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera and the club have agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $16.5 million.

The new deal was confirmed by the organization late Sunday following the Indians 12-10 win over the Colorado Rockies at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Cabrera's new contract will keep him in Cleveland through the 2014 season.

Last season Cabrera had a career-year with the Indians hitting .273 with 25 home runs and 92 RBIs. The Indians had been in negotiations with Cabrera's agent over the past several weeks looking to lock up the All-Star shortstop.

The Indians break camp on Monday as they will head to Zebulon, N.C. to play the organization's new Single-A affiliate, the Carolina Mudcats, followed by a full squad workout on Wednesday and then Opening Day against the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday at 3:05 pm ET.
