I'm home from the hospital. My wife and I actually pulled in the driveway about 8:45 tonight. We left Cleveland Clinic about 7:45. then had to go to CVS to get prescriptions, and we went to Steak & Shake, where at the drive-through, I got something I really wanted: a milkshake. I haven't had anything to eat or drink since last night. I did get some diet pop, Jello and applesauce at the hospital just before I left, but I had a serious craving for a milkshake.

The surgery went very well, exactly as Dr. Alam had hoped. One immediate thing is that I can close by left eye now! The left side of my face is severely swollen. It may take a couple days for that to go down. I'm bandaged up around the head, and have to wear that for 24 hours. You can see the spots next to my left cheek where Dr. Alam got in to pull and snip and stuff like that. It may take two or three days to get my left side of the face used to the changes so that I can move that portion of my mouth. But, one thing I have already seen, and that is that I can smile a bit better than I could before the surgery. I can actually show off some of my teeth.

By the way, I won't post a picture of how I look right now. Not in the mood to gross anyone out.

I've got Percocet for a pain killer, and Clindamycin, to help cut infecdtions. I'll have to sleep on my back, with my head elevated 30% for at least the next couple of nights. Nice to sleep in my own bed, though.

For what it's worth, when I came out of surgery, I was in pretty good shape. I was kind of bored, so I started singing Beatles tunes, and even the Gilligan's Island theme song. I totally amused the woman who was next to me in the post-op area. (I am such a nut case.)

I want to thank again all the WTAM 1100 listeners who have send me well wishes and have offered prayers during my surgeries. Should be back on the air early in March! I am so looking forward to it!
